Abby Erion

My Philosophy I have always been captivated by the phrase "There is no I in Team." When I initially heard it, it was based on the athletic field, but as I have developed into a clinician, I have discovered it also rings true in my personal and professional life. I feel that using a team approach between each patient and myself, we can best establish goals to motivate and drive each other to become better. Using this collaboration with my patient and his or her "team," I put my knowledge as a movement specialist into play. Movement is the basis of all human function, and when it is not restored, I believe that quality of life depreciates and level of function diminishes. Using methods such as the Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Functional Movement Screen and Y Balance Test, I diagnose, treat and ensure proper return to activity. My primary goal as a physical therapist is to restore movement and function, enabling my patients to achieve their own goals. My Background I graduated with my doctor in physical therapy from University of Iowa in 2009 and realized mastery didn’t stop there. From 2012-2014, I did a stint in Kentucky for a Sports Residency with the University of Evansville and ProRehab, PC. With an education focusing on "the athlete," – whether professional, collegiate, pediatric or recreational – I have developed a niche and also gained the insight to treat general orthopedics better as well. Since my residency, I have continued to value and work with athletes, with niches on adolescents as well as overhead athletes, but recently learned the importance of the whole self especially as I have embarked on a journey with dysautonomnia such as post concussive symptoms, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and even long COVID. I have also learned the stresses of the world and the importance of a mind-body connection.
